Dr. J. Craig Gladman

Dr. Gladman is a native of Amarillo and has been intimately involved with the medical community since 1975. After a ten year career as a surgical RN for a local general surgeon, he completed the pre-med program at West Texas A&M University graduating with a degree in biochemistry. Then he graduated from the University of Houston as a Doctor of Optometry where he received many awards for his clinical excellence. While in graduate school, Dr. Gladman participated in clinical research at the prestigious Hermann Eye Center in the Texas Medical Center under world-renowned cornea specialists where he was able to

study early pioneering surgical procedures including epikeratophakia. He was also involved in multiple clinical studies at the Retinal Vascular Center at St Joseph’s Hospital of Houston.

 

Returning to Amarillo in 1988, Dr. Gladman was the first local optometrist to own a practice with an ophthalmic surgeon where his clinical expertise was further developed over the course of 10 years. Then he transitioned into becoming a co-founder of a prestigious, high technology multi-doctor optometric group practice for the next 20 years. He sold his interest in this practice in 2019 and has joined Rush Eye Associates in 2021 as a part-time consultant where the focus of his practice is in the area of dry eye and chronic ocular surface disease. He continues to pursue excellence in patient care with his well-refined clinical expertise combined with the latest diagnostic and therapeutic state-of-the-art technology in the field. He further enjoys the open rapport that he has with his patients.

Dr. Gladman has served for over twenty years as an elder in his church and on the board of trustees for Great Cities Ministries, a para-church ministry which establishes churches throughout South America. Married to a retired RN for over forty years, Dr. Gladman is blessed with two successful sons and six delightful grandchildren. He and Donna enjoy sports cars, golf, travel, fine dining, and the love of friendships.

Dr. Gladman holds the highest level of recognition by the Texas Optometry Board as an optometric glaucoma specialist and is board certified as a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
