Our History
The formation of Rush Eye Associates began when cornea and refractive surgery fellowship-trained Sloan W. Rush, M.D. (“Dr. Sloan”) joined leading eye surgeon J. Avery Rush M.D. (“Dr. Avery”) to establish a world-class eye-care practice in their hometown of Amarillo, Texas. This father/son duo was able to bring together the latest available technology from Dr. Sloan in combination with the experience that comes from over 40 years of practice from Dr. Avery. Today, Dr. Sloan is carrying on the Rush tradition, solely leading the dedicated team of experienced eye care professionals.

Innovative Care
Rush Eye Associates is the leading visionary for all things ophthalmology in our region. We were the first practice in the Texas Panhandle to use femtosecond lasers, topography-guided excimer laser ablations, Corneal Collagen Cross-Linking, partial thickness corneal transplants, prosthetic corenal transplants (Keratoprosthesis), implantable miniature telescopes, same-day bilateral cataract surgery, and use of intraocular antibiotic injection during cataract srugery.
Now, we are proud to be the only practice in the region to offer the Ally Robotic-Assisted Cataract Laser System, the next generation of cataract surgery technology. This advanced technology is designed for exceptional precision and improved outcomes.
Rush Eye Associates is also among the first centers in the United States to offer cataract care as an Office-Based Surgery. This means no more traveling to a hospital setting for surgery. Instead, you'll have your initial consultation, surgical procedure, and follow-up care done in our advanced facility for your convenience and comfort.
