Traveling to
Rush Eye Associates?
Our streamlined clinic flow accommodates travelers from all over the region. Ask our schedulers about lodging discounts and other tips to simplify logistics. We are flexible adjusting the schedule to fit your travel arrangements but usually recommend that your surgery will be done on a Thursday to allow for a long weekend of healing prior to resuming work and all of your normal activities that following Monday.
How much time will I need to be in Amarillo for surgery?
The length of your stay will depend on your procedure. If you are traveling for LASIK or refractive lens implant surgery, we suggest the following:

Traveling from New Mexico, Oklahoma, or Kansas near the Texas Panhandle border:
• Your preoperative visit can be done anytime within 30 days prior to your surgery date.
• Overnight accommodation is recommended only on the day of surgery.
Traveling from Lubbock:
• It is recommended you have a preoperative visit the day before surgery.
• Overnight accommodation is recommended the day before surgery and the day of surgery.
Traveling from Oklahoma City, Dallas/Fort Worth, or from more than 250 miles away:
• It is recommended you have a preoperative visit the day before your surgery.
• Overnight accommodation is recommended the day before surgery and the day of surgery.
• Select telemedicine postoperative visits can be arranged.
Where should I stay?
We recommend the Best Western Plus Medical Center. It's right across the street from our facility and offers our patients a discount. To take advantage of this medical discount, you'll need to call the hotel directly at (806) 803-5000 and mention you're visiting Dr. Rush. The discount will not be applied if you book online.
